Never ending Condon research

Yep, I’m still on the hunt for the Condon’s. And yep, I’m going to put them on the shelf for a short while.

I’ve been researching all the children of Bethina Littleton and Caleb Condon, and this kids are proving elusive.

There seem to be 2, maybe 3 missing children between the 1840 and 1850 census and I can’t find any extra Condon kids in the area or in local cemeteries. Not finding them on the census in Georgia doesn’t mean they haven’t moved on to another state, they would be in their late teens by 1850 so maybe they went west? Or they could have died and the family couldn’t afford a marker? All conjecture at this moment.

I also have 2 girls that seem to have, maybe, possibly, been 1 person and variations in her name make her appear to be 2 people??? Either way, she appears on 2 census records and then is listed in a sisters obit 20 years later and poof, she disappears again. Or, it is 2 separate individuals… Confused yet??? I am. I think I may need fresh eyes on this family.

I’ve been exploring DNA matches to Josh Condon, the matches are very low, but it is a start so maybe a match will lead me to more info on this family.

Above is my family group sheet for Bethina and Caleb, with all the children, that I have found listed. If anyone with info on the Condons comes along please feel free to reach out as I’d love to get more information on them.

So, yep, I’m going to take a break from them for a little while. So why would I make an entire post about taking a break from a family. Well, to show the process isn’t always short and sweet when it comes to genealogy.

Some days I sit down and I find info and leads and I’m off to the races. Filling in blanks and adding info left and right, and other times… It takes a while. Lots of data sorting, going over records, trying to put individuals into a puzzle that I do not have a picture on the box to guide me.

Don’t let the previous statement lead you to believe I’ve given up. Just the opposite, I’m determined to find out more about Bethina (heck I think I’ve got her father and brother figured out) but I want to shed light on the life she lead and to do that I need to find more information on her children, all of them not just my ancestor Henry Littleton Lowe.

I will return soon to my Littleton/Condon family. In the meantime I’m going to dig in more to Jarrett Carter (1 of 4 Carter lines I have) born in Georgia around 1790 and then went to central Alabama, and I still can’t find when are where he died, so I’m on the hunt again.

The family group sheet above was created using Family Tree Maker 2019 for Mac. Great application that connects and sync with Ancestry.com. (No I’m not an affiliate with either FTM or Ancestry)
